If I return to Manchester uni next year I have decided that I am DEFINITELY going to live in a flat by myself. Is that weird? Maybe. A bit. But loooook this studio flat is much nicer the the house I’m living in now, AND it’s near Didsbury!! And it’s only £20 more a month. Sick of living with other people.
I don’t normally condone violence, but if I ever meet you, I’ll break your nose.
The worst thing about twitter is everyone going on about how great their lives are all the time.
The worst thing about tumblr is everyone going on about how awful their lives are all the time.
When are we going to get a social networking platform which reflects the true mundane mediocrity of life, hmm??

When you know I’m down!

it is relevant because it is a discussion regarding whether or not men are raped more than women (until it loses its way after 3 paragraphs). this is not misandrist ‘shut up men’ it’s ‘these numbers suggest this for men, but consider this for women.’
I didn’t suggest it was saying “shut up men”, but that the writer...

the headline is sensationalist and the article does go off on a tangent. but rape is a feminist issue, the writer is a feminist, and ‘men get raped too’ is used by misogynists constantly to try and undermine feminists. the women’s side is important!
But rape isn’t, by definition, a feminist issue. In...
teawithjam replied to your post: Jill Filipovic: is the US the only country where more men are raped than women?
the article isn’t about male rape, it’s about differing statistics of rape between both males and females. the ‘point’ in referring to women is to answer the question posed in the headline.
Only the first few paragraphs concentrate on statistics. The article is about, or at least...

http://www.guardian.co.uk/commentisfree/cifamerica/2012/feb/21/us-more-men-raped-than-women
This article is interesting, but also pretty horrible, as the first part consists of the female writer trying to talk down the statistics and argue about the specifics of ‘rape’, in order to, completely needlessly, try and dispel the notion that “more men are raped than...

what’s the easiest way to kill someone and make it look like i killed them
For David Cameron and Big Society Tories, folk culture means organic food, nu-folk pop music, and pastoral myths of Englishness. Meanwhile, postmodern liberal culture teaches us that talking about a singular folk is reductive at best, neo-fascist at worst. But what is being held in check by this consensus against the possibility of a unified, oppositional, populist identity taking root in...

I was looking at old setlists on a Blur fansite when I came across this one from a gig in France in 2009:

In the notes-
Notes:
The concert was held in a antique theatre of 4,500 people
The audience got pillows to sit on. A massive pillow fight broke out during “Song 2”!

one day i will actually kill everyone i’m telling you on here first so that when everyone ends up dead you can say “i knew that guy!! he used to be really angry about trivial things on tumblr!!” and it can be your claim to fame, providing you’re not dead.

the new uniform for cool ‘alternative’ young men in provincial cities is a plain green farmer-esque jacket (the sort your dad would wear on the allotment which makes it iRoNiCaLlY cOoL) skinny blue jeans and either a cap or a little wooly hat (no bobble). and also some kind of trainers- not and i repeat NOT any shoes which could be mistaken for being smart ie. brogues or desert boots

This is when I was sitting in the theatre and the drama students were doing “warm ups”
i can’t relate to people who literally can’t initiate any kind of confrontation. and yes i am talking about Ben, obviously.
how much do you bet, when faced with the 90s revival, Joe Fulton says things like “Bro, I LIVED through the 90s. I bought Pinkerton THE DAY IT CAME OUT- I was five years old, and by the time I was six I was TOTALLY over it. OMFGGG DOES THAT MAKE ME COOL???”

it wasn’t really vague but ok i’ve unfollowed you
Well, it wasn’t addressed directly at me. If you’ve got something to say, say it etc- a cliche but I find it works. Every time I ever post argumentative/angry/annoyed things, you like to indirectly reply by saying how people...
